REVIEW: JOANNA VARGAS SKINCARE
Hi beauties, happy August! Hard to believe summer is almost over, I go back to school for my last year of college in two weeks and I'm cringing at the thought of it. This stress may be contributing to my skin acting out a bit, and summer is usually when it ~flourishes~. I have super non-problematic skin, so this is weird to me. I'm so excited to share these new products from Joanna Vargas Skincare with you, one of which is really saving my skin during this semi-stressful time. I’ve read so many amazing things about their line and have been dying to try them out for a while! Their sweet team was kind enough to send me these goodies that I’ve been testing out for the past couple of weeks so I could share my thoughts with you guys (so far, so good)!
This Vitamin C infused serum has been very good to my skin so far. It claims to "even skin tone, build resilience, and boost radiance" with key ingredients of Elderberry Extract, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, squalane, and fatty acids. At first, I was super turned off by the fragrance in this product and consistency, it feels quite oily to start with and I was afraid of it just sitting on my skin. Much to my surprise it actually soaks right up into the skin. A little goes a long way, I only used 1-2 drops as instructed, and it was plenty. For the first week, I couldn’t tell if the product was really doing anything, but I’ve had lots of dry patches and super tiny breakouts popping up on various parts of my face. By week two of using only this product followed with moisturizer, these dry patches and breakouts were so extremely minimal, everything is basically gone at this point. Currently, I do find myself with a balanced skin tone and naturally radiant skin—exactly as their claims suggest. The price point of $150 is not exactly desirable, but considering how fast this worked for my skin, this is definitely a PR product I’d purchase. This is the product that made me really understand all the hype JV Skincare gets.
Loved how easy these were to put on and remove. The mask itself has a ton of product but it wasn’t drippy or messy. There’s no need to do any washing off in the sink, any leftover product can be massaged into the skin! Great for lazy people like myself.
Twilight—Packed with ingredients including Witch Hazel, Epidermal Growth Factor, Niacinamide, and Sodium Hyaluronate just to name a few, this mask claims to promote optimal vibrance and skin resilience. The immediate effect of this mask is soothing to the skin. Overall, my skin felt tighter, firmer, and more awake. The consistency is light and fast absorbing. The fragrance is last on the ingredients list but it was very noticeable to me.
Dawn—My favorite of the two I tried! Containing Vitamin C, Chamomilla Recutita Extract, Cherry Blossom, Glycerin, and Mandelic acid, this mask is supposed to exfoliate the skin leaving it baby soft. This mask just worked. I actually didn't even leave it on for the suggested 15-20 minutes because I'm an idiot, but immediately after letting the remaining but of product absorb into my skin, my skin felt refreshed, hydrated, and soft.
First off, I love how absolutely soothing this soap is. Ingredients include coconut and chamomile, so it’s extremely gentle for those with dry or sensitive skin. You can use this on your face, body, and hands. With how fragranced the other products were I was pleasantly surprised at how opposite the cloud bar was, especially considering how obnoxiously fragranced a lot of soaps tend to get. For $22 you’re getting a really solid, nourishing bar of soap that will put you on Cloud 9. This is a great product that I'm continually reaching for in the bath/shower, but it's not something I'd purchase on my own. As much as I love it, I personally wouldn't be able to justify spending twenty-two bucks on a bar of soap, but I love that this is a very accessible "treat yo'self" product.
Overall, I'm extremely happy with my experience trying out Joanna Vargas Skincare products, and I've even found a new routine staple because of it. My only gripes with the brand are the fragrance in each product and how pricey things are, but everything seems to work so dang well that I can't even be mad about it. I think I remember reading somewhere from Joanna Vargas that skincare and skincare products are an investment, so when you think about it that way, it's much easier to justify the cost.
Have you tried any JV Skincare products? What were your faves?
